A first HPDE weekend, a street car used for occasional track days and a dedicated competition car have different requirements. Tell us which event you are entering and bring its current technical-inspection form. The organizer sets the entry requirements; the work proposed for your BMW should address its actual condition and your intended use.
Existing faults come first. A warning light, fluid leak, brake concern or unexplained vibration should be discussed before adding power or fitting a more aggressive setup. Our BMW maintenance service is also relevant when service history is incomplete.
Brakes and consumables
Describe pedal changes, vibration, wear concerns and the pads currently fitted. Include whether the car must remain comfortable for daily driving. A track-focused pad choice and a street-focused choice serve different priorities; compatibility and the complete brake system matter more than a product label.
Start with BMW brake service and repair when there is an existing braking problem, then discuss event-specific changes.
Suspension and tire setup
Bring the wheel and tire sizes, suspension parts list and any available alignment information. Explain rubbing, uneven wear, instability or behavior you want to change. Ride height, bushings, damping and tire clearance belong in the same discussion.

Engine and supporting systems
Share temperature concerns, fluid consumption, current modifications and previous repairs. An engine refresh and a power-focused build are different scopes. Agree on the intended use and supporting work before buying parts.

Street use and event requirements
Tell us whether the car is driven to the circuit or transported. Include the organizer's requirements for seats, restraints and other equipment, plus any class restrictions. Confirm the required scope before making changes that affect everyday use or event eligibility.
Track preparation does not replace the organizer's inspection or guarantee acceptance at an event.

What to bring to a track-prep consultation
Your car's starting point
- BMW model, year and engine, plus mileage and available service records.
- Current brakes, suspension, wheels, tires and powertrain modifications.
- Warning lights, fluid leaks, unusual noises, handling issues or recent repairs.
- Previous event experience and what you want the car to do differently.
Your event and project constraints
- Event date, organizer and current technical-inspection requirements.
- Street use, transport plans and any competition-class restrictions.
- Budget priorities and parts already purchased or under consideration.
- Whether the scope is maintenance, selected upgrades or a larger build.
Ask us to separate required repair work from optional upgrades in the proposed scope. Confirm parts availability, the estimated completion date and any follow-up work before committing to an event around the project. A car needing diagnosis or substantial repairs may require a different plan than one coming in for a focused upgrade.
Planning your first or next track event
Do I need more power before my first HPDE?
Adding power is not the starting point for every car. Begin with the organizer's requirements, the vehicle's condition and your goals. Maintenance and existing brake or suspension problems deserve attention before deciding whether an engine upgrade belongs in the project.
Can I keep using the BMW on the street?
Tell us that at the beginning. Ride comfort, noise, brake behavior and normal road use are part of the specification for a dual-purpose car. A dedicated track build can involve different compromises; the parts list should reflect the use you actually intend.
How much does preparation cost, and how long does it take?
The answer depends on the car's condition, required repairs, chosen parts and event deadline. Request an estimate for a defined scope rather than comparing generic track-prep packages. Confirm timing with BPC before relying on a completion date.
